Job summary

Freedom Middle School in DeKalb County is seeking a SPED Paraprofessional to support students with educational, behavioral, and social-emotional needs, implementing and promoting high academic expectations.

You will work closely with teachers, provide direct instructional support in small groups or one-on-one, assist with IEP goals, and help maintain a safe, confidential learning environment.

Applicants must meet Georgia PSC requirements and pass the GACE Paraprofessional Assessment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED and GACE Paraprofessional Assessment is required.
• Associate degree or higher from a Georgia PSC-approved college is required.
• 60 semester hours or 90 quarter hours with GPA 2.0+ from a Georgia PSC-approved college is acceptable.
• A PSC-approved paraprofessional certificate is required.

Responsibilities

• Assist students with physical and personal care needs as outlined in IEP under supervision.
• Provide health-related and non-medical assistance when trained and authorized.
• Assist with health care procedures and medications as needed for daily care.
• Provide direct instructional support in small groups or one-on-one.
• Support classroom management and behavior strategies to maintain a conducive learning environment.
• Assist with progress monitoring and data collection under supervision.
• Maintain confidentiality of student records per FERPA and district policies.
• Implement Behavior Intervention Plans (BIPs) with fidelity.
