Job summary

Responsibilities

• Assist Special Education teacher with academic instruction and implement IEP goals.
• Assist in inclusion activities and support students in the general education setting.
• Support non-academic instruction provided by itinerant teachers.
• Assist with correcting assignments and modifying worksheets as directed by the Special Education teacher.
• Help with programs designed by therapists (therapy not performed without training and written directive).
• Assist physically challenged students with wheelchair use and adaptive equipment (as trained).
• Supervise students before school, at recess, lunch, dismissal, and during field trips.
• Enforce school rules and student behavior policies.
• Perform other duties assigned by principal or Director of Special Education.
• Special Education Paraprofessional duties including toileting assistance and self-care activities.
