Job summary

The Scituate Public School District is seeking a Specialized Paraprofessional Long Term Substitute to support students with intensive, individualized paraprofessional services across ECC, JEMS, TLP, i-Excel programs, and learning centers. Duties include 1:1 instruction, data collection, and collaboration with teachers.

Requirements include a high school diploma or GED and ability to work with students requiring specialized supports; compensation is $110 per day for a 3–6 week assignment, on-site

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED is required.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills.
• Ability to follow directions from the principal and lead educator.
• Ability to work independently and foster a positive, inclusive and safe school environment.
• Experience with students who may exhibit challenging behaviors.
• Ability to lift up to 25 pounds; may perform restraints if trained.
• Current authorization to work in the United States by start date.
• Experience with ABA or discrete trials preferred.
• Associates degree or higher in child development, education or psychology preferred.

Responsibilities

• Support classroom and specialized instruction for students individually or in small groups.
• Proctor daily content area tests and standardized tests including MCAS.
• Provide supervision, academic and behavioral support to students.
• Support classroom technology and use of assistive technology.
• Implement behavior plans as appropriate; data collection.
• Foster student independence and positive behaviors.
• Provide coverage for teachers for meetings and prepare materials.
• Reinforce instruction with guided practice and review activities.
• Implement accommodations outlined in student plans (IEPs, 504s).
• Maintain confidentiality and follow district policies; attend trainings as scheduled.
