Job summary

The Salt Lake City School District is seeking a Paraprofessional (Special Education) - Self-Contained to support students with daily living, motor and behavioral skills. Under a Special Education teacher, you will supervise and instruct students in various classes, collect data, and assist with Medicaid documentation.

Strong patience and calm demeanor are essential. Role also supports Essential Elements students during after-school programs; fingerprinting, background checks, and ESSA

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Must be Highly Qualified per ESSA via college hours or an associate degree or PRAXIS 460+.
• Background check and fingerprinting required.
• CPR & First Aid certification within 2 months of hire.
• Complete Safety Care and Health Services Training.
• Effective English communication; basic math and Microsoft Office.
• Experience in K-12 SPED preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist and supervise students in general education classrooms per IEP.
• Support students with feeding, toileting, mobility as needed.
• Provide 1:1 or small group instruction aligned to IEP goals.
• Collect data on behaviors and academics for Medicaid documentation.
• Assist with bus loading/unloading and safety.
• Administer assessments and help evaluate progress.
• Supervise PE and playground activities; support community events.
• Report incidents and maintain student safety and confidentiality.
• Attend meetings and trainings; adapt to changing priorities.
