Job summary

WEST HIGH SCHOOL in Salt Lake City, UT is seeking a Parapro (SPED) Self Contained (PT) to support students with IEP goals in a self-contained SPED setting. This role offers hourly pay and requires immediate availability with a starting wage of $20.00 per hour.

The position is non-contract, part-time, and not eligible for benefits. Responsibilities include assisting in classrooms, data collection, and ensuring student safety and well-being under supervision of SPED staff.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• ESSA Highly Qualified or alternatives: 48 college hours or an associate degree or PRAXIS 460+.
• CPR & First Aid certification within 2 months of hire.
• Complete Safety Care Training and Annual Health Services Training.
• Ability to communicate effectively in English (reading, writing, speaking).
• Basic math skills (fractions, percentages, ratios).
• Experience with standard office equipment and Microsoft Office.

Responsibilities

• Assist and supervise students in gen ed classes per IEP needs.
• Support students with behavior, health care needs, feeding, toileting, and mobility.
• Provide 1:1 or small group instruction to meet IEP goals.
• Collect data on student behaviors and academics; support Medicaid funding records.
• Assist in bus loading/unloading and safety procedures.
• Administer assessments and help track progress with teachers.
