Job summary

Great Hearts Academies in Prairie View, TX seeks a Special Education Coordinator to lead the SPED department, supervise SPED Teachers, TAs, and ESS staff, and oversee IEP coordination and compliance. The role reports to the headmaster and aligns with the academy's classical liberal arts education approach.

The SPED Coordinator will conduct classroom observations, guide staff development, facilitate IEP meetings, and ensure accurate documentation, reporting, and collaboration across teams.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required; Master's degree preferred.
• Lead knowledge of SPED processes, timelines, and compliance.
• Experience coordinating IEP meetings and service providers.
• Strong leadership and mentoring skills.

Responsibilities

• Ensures transfer procedure on all incoming students is complete.
• Conducts classroom observations and data gathering for SST-referred students.
• Facilitates transition of parent relationships to ESSC during IEP development.
• Coordinates, facilitates, and executes annual IEP meetings for students on caseload.
• Observes general education teachers' implementation of IEPs on caseload.
• Provides orientation to service providers on school philosophy and layout.
• Coordinates with related service providers and school psychologist for evaluations and services.
• Reviews and signs invoices for HM approval and follows up on progress reports.
• Leads the ESS team to complete EOY responsibilities and rollover.
