Job summary

Ysleta Independent School District in El Paso, TX seeks a Paraprofessional to support students with disabilities under the supervision of a certified teacher. The role includes assisting with IEP goals, self-help skills, behavior management, and adapting instructional materials to student needs.

Responsibilities include supervision across the day, small-group support, testing assistance, documentation of services, and collaboration with SPED staff.

Qualifications

• High school diploma/GED or higher; 48 hours from an accredited college or university; experience working with students and parents.
• Must possess SBEC paraprofessional certificate.
• Acquire CPR and Heimlich maneuver, and Non-Violent Crisis Intervention (NCI) within district training.
• Must be familiar with/able to use Occupational Therapy/Physical Therapy apparatus.
• Must be able to communicate, listen, read, write, and comprehend English easily.

Responsibilities

• Supervise students inside and outside classroom, including lunchroom, bus, and playground duty.
• Assist teacher with instructional materials and behavioral interventions.
• Implement strategies learned in staff development training.
• Work with individual students, small groups, and whole class as assigned.
• Assist students with severe delays to implement modifications and achieve goals.
• Reinforce skills and units taught by the teacher.
• Assist with IEP documentation and service delivery records.
• Help manage behavior, intervene in crises, and restrain when necessary.
• Assist with testing instruments and technology integration.
• Incorporate social-emotional learning and daily behavioral strategies.
• Assist with filing, copying, inventory, and equipment maintenance; manage SHARS billing as required.
• Support use of augmentative communication and assistive devices.
• Assist with transferring to/from wheelchairs; provide personal care as needed.
