Mesa Public Schools in Mesa, Arizona is seeking an Instructional Assistant Special Education I - Resource at Patterson Elementary for a part-time schedule (22.75–29 hours per week). The role supports certified teachers in implementing IEPs, assisting students with academics, daily living and health care activities, and relieving teachers of routine clerical tasks.

Qualifications

Associate degree or 60 college credits or ParaPro Test required at hire.
High school diploma preferred.
Experience working with children preferred.

Responsibilities

Deliver classroom work under teacher direction to reinforce objectives and provide tutoring.
Assist in developing instructional materials and maintaining the classroom.
Assist in data collection on academic and behavior goals as instructed.
Support positive behavior plans collaboratively with certified staff.
Respond to behavioral incidents following the district plan and safety policies.
Assist with transferring or lifting students as needed for daily activities.
Support personal care needs and daily living activities for students.
Accompany students across campus and supervise small groups to maintain a safe environment.
Perform clerical tasks to support teachers and participate in meetings to improve skills.
