Qualifications

• Must have two years of college credit (48 semester credit hours) from an accredited university, excluding remedial courses.
• An Associate's Degree from an accredited university is acceptable.
• Passing score on the Para-Pro exam.
• Must obtain First Aid and CPR certification.
• Must have De-escalation and Restraint certification.

Responsibilities

• Adapts classroom activities and materials under the supervision of the licensed teacher.
• Provides instructional support to students individually or in small groups.
• Assists with implementing IEP objectives and developing appropriate modifications.
• Administers assignments, tests, and related tasks; maintains records.
• Employs de-escalation/restraint strategies and participates in safety procedures.
• Supports teachers in maintaining a positive, orderly learning environment.
