Job summary

Washington County TN School District at Daniel Boone High School seeks a Special Education Instructional Assistant to support students with IEPs under licensed teachers. You will assist in individual and small-group instruction, help with data collection, and support the classroom in both general and special education settings.

Qualifications

• Experience providing support to students with IEP goals under supervision of licensed teachers.
• Ability to adapt activities and materials to meet individualized learning plans.

Responsibilities

• Adapts classroom activities, assignments, and/or materials under the direction of the supervising teacher.
• Adapts classroom work to address individualized learning plans within established lesson plans.
• Administers assignments, tests, homework, and make-up work.
• Administers immediate first aid and medical assistance as instructed by a health care professional.
• Assists in completing all record keeping requirements.
• Assists in designing materials for individual students in general or special education classrooms.
• Assists in instructing children in health and personal habits.
• Maintains a safe work and play environment.
• Collaborates with instructional staff, parents and community resources for the benefit of students.
• Communicates with teachers to evaluate progress and implement IEP objectives.
• Discusses assigned duties with classroom teachers to coordinate instructional efforts.
• Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
• Employs de-escalation/restraint strategies; restraint training and certification is required.
• Works directly with students in general education and special education classrooms providing special assistance and/or instruction.
