Washington County Schools (TN) seeks a Special Education Teacher to deliver developmentally appropriate educational services for students with diverse abilities and to maintain required documents under federal and state regulations.

The role includes developing and implementing IEPs, collaborating with parents and school staff, and delivering instruction in classroom, small group, and 1:1 settings while upholding district policies and ensuring student safety.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required.
• Valid license with appropriate endorsement acceptable to the state of Tennessee Department of Education; First Aid and CPR certification preferred; must have or be willing to obtain Conflict Resolution/Restraint Training.
• Pre-employment Physical Exam

Responsibilities

• Assumes responsibility for the day-to-day operation of the classroom, may include general education classroom in conjunction with the general classroom teacher.
• Provides direct instruction within the classroom, small group, and/or 1:1 setting.
• Develops and maintains student IEPs and conducts parent meetings with fidelity to articulate progress towards IEP goals.
• Plans curriculum and prepares lessons considering individual needs and abilities.
• Employs special education strategies to improve development of language, cognition, or memory.
• Maintains effective student management techniques in all settings.
• Collaborates with staff to provide accommodations and modifications for curriculum and instruction.
