Job summary

Chicago Public Schools is hiring a Special Education Classroom Assistant to support students with disabilities under the supervision of a licensed Special Education teacher. The role includes one-on-one tutoring, personal care tasks, and assisting with adaptive equipment in classrooms.

The position requires a valid ISBE paraprofessional license (TASN/NCLB) and the ability to follow written and oral instructions. CPR training is desirable and may be required during employment.

Qualifications

• Must possess a valid TASN (NCLB) paraprofessional license from ISBE.
• Good knowledge of English grammar and spelling.
• Ability to follow written and oral instructions and complete basic written reports.
• CPR training is highly desirable and may be required upon employment.

Responsibilities

• Assist in instruction of students with disabilities under supervision of a teacher.
• Provide one-on-one tutoring and personal hygiene support as needed.
• Assist in lifting and positioning non-ambulatory students and using adaptive equipment.
• Maintain written records of student behavior and progress.
• Accompany students on field trips and to medical appointments as required.
• Attend workshops and in-service training to update job-related skills.
