Fred Hutchinson Cancer Center seeks a Specimen Processing Services Specialist Lead to serve as primary contact for clinical lab specimen processing. The role includes lab operations support, training, and coordinating daily workflow at the South Lake Union campus.

The SPS Lead ensures sample integrity, supports transfusion services, and drives process improvements across departments. Strong LIS/EMR proficiency and a proactive mindset are essential.

Qualificações

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• WA State Surgical Tech registration required if assisting with bone marrow collection.
• 18 months of Alliance Lab SPS competency or a minimum of 8 years Alliance Lab equivalent SPS experience.
• Clear verbal and written communication in professional settings.
• Ability to organize, manage time and tasks independently.
• Problem-solving under pressure and changing workloads.
• Proficiency with LIS and EMR systems in Windows environments.
• Demonstrates initiative and willingness to take on more responsibility.
• Ability to lift 25 lbs and pass color vision screening.

Responsabilidades

• Process specimens including centrifugation, aliquoting, and dispensing to testing labs.
• Support blood bank transfusion services and bone marrow aspiration procedures.
• Minimize patient wait times and maintain sample integrity.
• Maintain professional communication with patients and staff.
• Record variances in Patient Safety Net and participate in QA/QI programs.
• Assist with daily workflow coordination and department process improvements.
• Mentor new employees and train staff on standard practices.
• Develop inter-department relationships and act as a resource.
