Job summary

Fred Hutchinson Cancer Center in Seattle is seeking a Specimen Processing Services Specialist I to perform blood specimen processing and venipuncture in a fully onsite role at the South Lake Union Campus. The position is 1.0 FTE, 40 hours per week.

Responsibilities include learning computer skills, managing specimen workflows, and supporting QA/QI initiatives to ensure timely, accurate processing and safe patient care.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Knowledge of basic medical terminology.
• Ability to lift 25 lbs.
• Proficient in email and data entry in Windows environment.
• Must differentiate colors and pass color vision screening.

Responsibilities

• Perform specimen processing of blood specimens.
• Perform venipuncture phlebotomy on patients and donors.
• Learn computer skills promptly to support workflows.
• Process specimens including centrifugation, aliquoting, and sendout.
• Participate in Quality Improvement/Quality Assurance programs.
• Record variances of policies in the Patient Safety Net.
• Greet and receive patients at the Alliance Laboratory for blood draws.
• Cover shifts or weekends as needed.
• Work well under pressure and adjust to workload changes.
