Job summary

Valley Health System is seeking an Outreach Specimen Specialist for the LAB OUTREACH PROGRAM. The role processes patient specimens (blood, fluids, tissue) and handles EPIC/ATLAS registrations, data entry, and customer service across insurance and patient types.

The position requires a High School Diploma or GED, knowledge of ICD-10/CPT codes preferred, and familiarity with CAP/JCAHO safety initiatives. Must handle hazardous materials and multitask under pressure.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED is required.
• Knowledge of ICD-10 and CPT codes is preferred.
• Medical terminology is preferred.
• Must be willing to handle blood, body fluids and tissue samples.
• Ability to multi-task and prioritize under stressful situations.
• Knowledge/competence of CAP and JCAHO Laboratory patient safety initiatives and applies these to all aspects of diagnostic testing.

Responsibilities

• Process patient specimens including blood, body fluids, and tissue samples.
• Perform EPIC registrations and ATLAS registrations for all insurance and patient types.
• Enter data correctly into the laboratory system (Allscripts/ALAB).
• Provide face-to-face and telephone customer service and support.
• Monitor supplies and ensure compliance with all regulatory and accreditation requirements related to safety and testing.
