Job summary

Labcorp is seeking a dedicated Specimen Management Assistant to join the team in Overland Park, KS. You will act as a liaison between the lab, clients, and patients, coordinating specimen handling and ensuring accurate labeling and processing.

The role requires a high school diploma with 2+ years of specimen processing experience, and preferred qualifications include Labcorp experience, an associates degree, and some medical laboratory exposure.

Labcorp is seeking a dedicated and motivated individual to join their Specimen Management team in Overland Park, KS.

Work Schedule: Monday-Friday 9am-5:30pm

Job Responsibilities

• Act a liaison between the lab, clients, and patients.
• Resolve internal & external customer requests via calls, instant messenger & email communications
• Communicates with customers in respectful and professional manner.
• Work in multiple databases to research complex issues and questions.
• Provide customer education and information as needed.
• Review test forms for accuracy and report any discrepancies.
• Prepare and triage specimens for analysis.
• Accurately identify and label specimens.
• Pack and ship specimens as necessary.
• Prepare and store excess specimen samples.

Minimum Qualification

• High School Diploma or GED equivalent
• 2 years or more of specimen processing experience

Preferred Qualification

• Current or prior Labcorp experience
• Associates degree
• 6 months or more of experience in a medical/clinical laboratory experience
• 6 months or more in customer service

Additional Job Standards

• Excellent communication skills; both written and verbal
• Familiarity with laboratory operations as well as policies and procedures
• Comfortable handling biological specimens
• Ability to accurately identify specimens
• Experience working in a team environment
• Strong data entry and organizational skills
• High level of attention to detail
• Proficient in MS Office
• Ability to lift up to 40lbs.
• Able to pass a standardized color blindness test

Employees regularly scheduled to work less than 20 hours, Casual, Intern, and Temporary employees are only eligible to participate in the 401(k) Plan. Employees who are regularly scheduled toworka 7 on/7 off schedule are eligible to receive all the foregoing benefits except PTO or FTO.
