Job summary

Labcorp is seeking a dedicated Specimen Management team member at Overland Park, KS. You will act as a liaison between the lab, clients, and patients, handling requests via calls, chat, and email to ensure timely and accurate service.

You will prepare and triage specimens, verify test forms, and maintain accurate labeling and shipping. The role emphasizes attention to detail, teamwork, and proficiency with MS Office.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED is required.
  • Associates degree is preferred.
  • 6+ months of medical/clinical lab experience required.
  • 6+ months of customer service experience required.
  • Current or prior Labcorp experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Act as liaison between the lab, clients, and patients.
  • Resolve internal & external customer requests via calls, instant messenger & email communications.
  • Researchers or staff provide customer education and information as needed.
  • Review test forms for accuracy and report any discrepancies.
  • Prepare and triage specimens for analysis.
  • Accurately identify and label specimens.
  • Pack and ship specimens as necessary.

Work Schedule

Work Schedule: Monday-Friday 9am-5:30pm

Job Responsibilities
  • Act a liaison between the lab, clients, and patients.
  • Resolve internal & external customer requests via calls, instant messenger & email communications
  • Communicates with customers in respectful and professional manner.
  • Work in multiple databases to research complex issues and questions.
  • Provide customer education and information as needed.
  • Review test forms for accuracy and report any discrepancies.
  • Prepare and triage specimens for analysis.
  • Accurately identify and label specimens.
  • Pack and ship specimens as necessary.
  • Prepare and store excess specimen samples.
Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent
  • Current or prior Labcorp experience
  • Associates degree
  • 6 months or more of experience in a medical/clinical laboratory experience
  • 6 months or more in customer service
Job Standards
  • Excellent communication skills; both written and verbal
  • Familiarity with laboratory operations as well as policies and procedures
  • Comfortable handling biological specimens
  • Ability to accurately identify specimens
  • Experience working in a team environment
  • Strong data entry and organizational skills
  • High level of attention to detail
  • Proficient in MS Office
  • Ability to lift up to 40lbs. Able to pass a standardized color blindness test

  • Employees regularly scheduled to work 20 or more hours per week are eligible for comprehensive benefits including: Medical, Dental, Vision, Life, STD/LTD, 401(k), Paid Time Off (PTO) or Flexible Time Off (FTO), Tuition Reimbursement and Employee Stock Purchase Plan.
  • Employees regularly scheduled to work less than 20 hours, Casual, Intern, and Temporary employees are only eligible to participate in the 401(k) Plan.
  • Employees who are regularly scheduled to work a 7 on/7 off schedule are eligible to receive all the foregoing benefits except PTO or FTO,
