Job summary

Sentara is hiring a Pharmacy Technician at our Proprium Specialty Pharmacy in Chesapeake, VA. A $5,000 sign-on bonus is offered for qualified candidates. The role is full-time with a day shift (8AM-5PM) and occasional Saturdays.

The ideal candidate will possess a Virginia Pharmacy Tech License, preferably a CPhT from NHA/PTCBB, and about 1 year of pharmacy experience. Competitive compensation and benefits are provided.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• Virginia Pharmacy Tech License required.
• PTCB/NHA certification preferred.
• 1 year pharmacy experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Performs care delivery and dispensing under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist or licensed independent practitioner.
• Fills and delivers medications under supervision.
• Ensures adequate supplies are available for patient care.
• Triages and escalates questions outside the tech scope as needed.
• Uses systems for processing patient information.
• Maintains quality assurance per regulatory requirements.
• Operates pharmacy equipment.
• Other duties may be assigned.

Job Responsibilities

• The Specialty Pharmacy Tech performs care delivery and dispensing under the direct supervision of a licensed pharmacist or licensed independent practitioner.
• Fills and delivers medications under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist/licensed independent practitioner
• Ensures adequate supplies are available for continuous patient care
• Triages and escalates any questions or issues outside the pharmacy technician's scope of practice as needed
• Uses appropriate systems for processing patient information
• Ensures quality assurance is maintained according to departmental and legal requirements
• Operates pharmacy equipment appropriately
• In addition to the above job responsibilities, other duties may be assigned.
