Job summary

Banner Health is seeking a Specialty Operating Room Technician in Phoenix, AZ, to support the surgical team in a fast-paced, high-acuity environment. You will assist with instrument coordination, equipment setup, and patient transport as part of the OR team.

The role emphasizes collaboration with surgeons, nurses, and anesthesia providers, maintaining safety and efficiency across general, GYN, robotics, and other specialties.

Qualifications

• High school diploma/GED required.
• Current BLS certification required.
• Understanding of inventory management tasks and ability to use a computer-based system.
• Strong communication, time management, problem solving, customer service and organizational skills.

Responsibilities

• Serve as a resource in designated surgical specialty to coordinate instruments and equipment.
• Maintain unit equipment: setup, cleaning, basic troubleshooting, safety checks, calibrates and replaces soda lime, monitor malfunctions, assist with room setup and cart maintenance.
• Track and monitor availability of equipment and instruments with OR team.
• Maintain adequate inventory of anesthesia and surgical supplies in OR and anesthesia areas.
• Assist with pulling supplies for cases and rotating inventory; monitor expiration dates.
• Under RN circulator, assist with basic patient care and aseptic technique.
• Perform delegated tasks by licensed professionals; obtain additional training as needed.
• Assist with transporting patients pre- and post-operatively to critical care; participate in OR turnover.
• Collaborate with other areas as needed; think critically in fast-paced environment.
