Qualifications

• 2+ years operating room experience with scrub proficiency in 2 surgical specialties.
• High school diploma or GED plus BLS certification and state registration where required.

Responsibilities

• Provides surgical assistance to the surgeon for perioperative cases and prepares instruments and supplies.
• Maintains hemostasis, passes instruments, retracts tissue, and uses appropriate instruments as directed.
• Demonstrates aseptic technique and universal precautions; disposes of sharps and counts instruments.
• Assists in planning patient care under physician direction and follows policies and standards.
• Performs functions per institutional procedures and delivers excellent service daily.
• Serves as First Assistant to the Surgeon in the OR and adheres to safety protocols.

Education

High school diploma/GED

Basic Life Support (BLS) certification

Surgical technologist certification

State regulatory registration (where applicable)
