Job summary

Boston Government Services (BGS) seeks a Specialty Mechanical Engineer to support the Y12 National Security Complex in Oak Ridge, TN. The role centers on the design and procurement of custom equipment such as glovebox systems, furnaces, and high vacuum setups.

The engineer will develop specifications, perform machine design calculations (FEM/structural/seismic/heat transfer), and collaborate across disciplines in a fully onsite, full-time role. U.S.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 10 years’ experience with design/specification of custom mechanical equipment.
• Bachelor’s degree in engineering from ABET accredited school.
• U.S. citizen.
• Successful drug screening.
• Eligible to obtain and maintain a security or clearance badge.
• Needs DOE Q security clearance; but all qualified candidates considered regardless of current clearance.

Responsibilities

• Engineering design tasks: build-to-print design packages of custom, specialty equipment.
• Development of procurement documents: equipment specifications, statements of work, datasheets.
• Perform calculations and analysis for machine design (FEM, structural and seismic, ergonomic, kinematic, heat transfer).
• Other duties as assigned.
