Job summary

Edgewater Technical Associates is seeking a qualified Specialty Mechanical Engineer (Machine Design) for the Oak Ridge, TN area at the Y-12 National Security Complex. The role focuses on creating design and procurement documents for glovebox systems, furnaces, high vacuum systems, and related equipment.

The candidate will perform calculations and analysis for machine design, collaborate with engineers across disciplines, and contribute to procurement documentation and detailed specs.

Qualifications

• Must possess a bachelors degree in Engineering from an ABET accredited program.
• A minimum of 10 years’ experience with design/specification of custom mechanical equipment.

Responsibilities

• Create design and procurement documents for specialty and first-of-a-kind equipment such as glovebox systems, furnaces, high vacuum systems, and metal casting/machining equipment.
• Develop equipment specifications, statements of work, and datasheets.
• Perform engineering calculations/analysis for machine design including FEA, structural/seismic, ergonomic studies, kinematic calculations and heat transfer.
