Job summary

Consolidated Nuclear Security is seeking a Mechanical Engineer to join the Projects Equipment Design organization at Y-12. You will design and specify specialty equipment such as gloveboxes, furnaces, and high vacuum systems, and prepare outputs like specifications, datasheets, and analysis calculations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from an ABET-accredited program in the United States or equivalent.
• Minimum GPA requirements: 3.0/4.0 for Bachelor, 3.3 for Master, 3.5 for PhD (as applicable).
• Professional Engineering license preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop detailed design packages for new specialty equipment.
• Create equipment specifications for subcontracted procurements.
• Lead or contribute to multi-discipline teams on engineering tasks.
• Perform analyses and simulations (FEA, MBD, etc.).
• Support fabrication, testing, and installation activities.
• Attend factory acceptance testing and resolve design issues.
