Guardian Fleet Services in West Palm Beach, FL is seeking a Specialized Transportation Driver to haul oversized, heavy equipment. The role requires a CDL Class A, clean driving record, and experience with load securement and permits, with opportunities for local and extended travel.

You'll operate heavy-haul tractors and trailers, conduct pre-trip inspections, comply with DOT regulations, and maintain logs.

Qualifications

• CDL Class A with clean driving record.
• 2–5 years of heavy haul or lowboy experience.
• Advanced load securement and rigging knowledge.
• Must be 21+ years old.
• Ability to read permits and route plans.
• Knowledge of weight distribution and axle setups.
• DOT medical, drug screen, and background checks required.
• Strong communication and customer service skills.

Responsibilities

• Operate heavy-haul trucks and specialized trailers to transport oversized payloads.
• Load, secure, and unload machinery using chains and straps.
• Read permits, route surveys, and escort instructions.
• Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections.
• Communicate with dispatch, escorts, customers, and site personnel.
• Ensure DOT and local regulatory compliance.
• Maintain logs, permits, and load documentation.
• Identify mechanical issues and perform minor troubleshooting.
• Keep truck and equipment clean and compliant with safety policies.
• Work flexible hours and travel as required.

Key Responsibilities

• Operate heavy‑haul trucks and specialized trailers to transport oversized, overweight, and high‑value equipment.
• Load, secure, and unload machinery, industrial components, and other specialized cargo using chains, binders, straps, and blocking.
• Read and follow oversize/overweight permits, route surveys, and pilot/escort instructions.
• Conduct thorough pre‑trip, en‑route, and post‑trip inspections of truck, trailer, and securement equipment.
• Communicate effectively with dispatch, escort vehicles, customers, and job‑site personnel.
• Ensure compliance with DOT, state, and local regulations, including weight limits, height/width restrictions, and securement standards.
• Maintain accurate logs, paperwork, permits, and load documentation.
• Identify and report mechanical issues; perform minor troubleshooting when necessary.
• Maintain a clean, organized truck and uphold company safety policies.
• Work flexible hours, including early mornings, nights, weekends, and extended travel as required both local and distance hauling.

Required Qualifications

• Valid CDL Class A with a clean driving record.
• Minimum 2–5 years of experience in heavy haul, specialized transport, or lowboy operations.
• Proficiency with advanced load securement techniques and rigging equipment.
• Must be at least 21 years of age to meet company insurance and driving eligibility requirements.
• Ability to read and interpret permits, route plans, and height/width restrictions.
• Strong understanding of weight distribution, axle configurations, and trailer types.
• Ability to pass DOT physical, drug screening, and background checks.
• Strong communication and customer‑service skills.

Physical Requirements

• Lift, pull, push, and carry 75–100 lbs regularly (chains, binders, blocking, ramps).
• Operate manual securement equipment requiring significant upper‑body strength.
• Climb onto trailers, equipment, and loads up to 6–8 feet high.
• Perform repetitive bending, kneeling, climbing, and crouching during securement tasks.
• Stand, walk, and work on uneven terrain for extended periods.
