Key Responsibilities

• Perform in-depth diagnostics and troubleshooting of complex industrial electrical systems, including high-voltage equipment, motors, generators, and control panels.
• Develop and implement preventive and predictive maintenance programs for electrical assets to minimize unplanned downtime.
• Conduct regular inspections and assessments of electrical installations, ensuring compliance with safety regulations and industry standards.
• Lead or participate in the installation, commissioning, and testing of new electrical equipment and systems.
• Analyze electrical system performance data, identify trends, and recommend improvements for efficiency and reliability.
• Manage electrical spare parts inventory and ensure timely procurement of necessary components.
• Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior maintenance staff and electricians.
• Investigate electrical incidents and near misses, developing corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
• Ensure all maintenance activities are documented accurately in the CMMS system.
• Adhere strictly to all safety protocols and participate in safety improvement initiatives.

Requirements

• A Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a closely related field.
• A minimum of 6 years of progressive experience in electrical maintenance, specifically within heavy industrial or mining environments.
• In-depth knowledge of high-voltage systems, power distribution, motor control, and industrial automation.
• Proficiency in using advanced diagnostic equipment such as oscilloscopes, multimeters, thermal imagers, and partial discharge detectors.
• Experience with Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs) and Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) systems is a significant advantage.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret complex electrical schematics and diagrams.
• Excellent understanding of mine safety regulations and electrical compliance standards.
• Ability to work effectively in a physically demanding environment, including confined spaces and at heights, when required.
• Valid driver's license for travel within the Welkom, Free State area as needed.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.
