Tarrant County College District (TCCD) is seeking a Specialist, Payroll to maintain payroll records for employees at the District Offices. The role reports to the Finance & Accounting department and operates on a full-time basis with monthly pay.

Responsibilities include compiling payroll data, entering and auditing wage calculations, and handling garnishments and tax obligations. The position emphasizes accuracy, confidentiality, and compliance with related regulations.

Formación

  • High School Diploma or GED with 2 years payroll-related experience.
  • Equivalent combination of education and work experience.

Responsabilidades

  • Prepares input forms, enters data, and computes wages and deductions.
  • Reviews wages and corrects errors to ensure payroll accuracy.
  • Sets up wage attachments and garnishments per IRS and agencies.
  • Processes data for hires, promotions, transfers, terminations, and LWOP.
  • Prepares periodic earnings, taxes, and deduction reports.
  • Assists with distribution of W-2 forms.

Compensation Details: Starting Pay - 45,900.00; Commensuratewith education and experience

Work Hours: Monday - Friday 8:00am - 5:00pm

Job Summary

This role is responsible for compiling data to maintain payrollrecords for Tarrant County College District (TCCD) employees.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities
Essential Performance Requirements
  • Compiles payroll data such as hours worked, taxes, insurance, anddeductions to be withheld from time sheets and other records
  • Prepares computer input forms, enters data into computer files,or computes wages and deductions and posts to payroll record
  • Reviews wages computed and correct errors to ensure the accuracyof payroll
  • Records changes affecting net wages such as exemptions, insurancecoverage, and loan payments for each employee to update masterpayroll records
  • Setup wage attachments and garnishments in compliance with theIRS, Child Support Agencies, Student Loan providers, and BankruptcyCourts
  • Processes data for new hires, promotions, transfers, demotions,terminations, and leaves without pay (LWOP)
  • Prorates expenses to be debited or credited to each departmentfor cost accounting records
  • Prepares periodic reports of earnings, taxes, anddeductions
  • Keeps records of leave pay and nontaxable wages
  • Assists with the distribution of W-2 forms
  • Prepares and issues payments
Service Excellence
  • Participates on behalf of the College in external communityorganizations and associations as assigned to support the essentialperformance requirements
  • Attends the workplace regularly, reports to work punctually, andfollows a work schedule to keep up with the demands of theworksite
  • Completes all required training and professional developmentsessions sponsored through Tarrant County College (TCC)
  • Supports the mission, values, goals, and principles of theCollege
Supervision
  • Works under the supervision of the assigned departmentleader
Performs Other Related Tasks as Required

Required Minimum Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or GED and two (2) years’ working experiencerelated to the Essential Performance Requirements; or anyequivalent combination of education and work‑relatedexperience
Preferred Qualifications
  • Associate's degree or 60 college hours
  • At least one (1) year's working experience with an automatedpayroll, HRIS, or enterprise resource planning (ERP) system
  • At least one (1) year's working experience in a college oruniversity setting related to the Essential PerformanceRequirements
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Knowledge of payroll practices
  • Skilled in delivering high-quality customer service and buildingeffective interpersonal relationships, including strong listening,verbal, and written communication skills
  • Skilled in using computer applications and enterprise systems,including the Microsoft Office suite and the Microsoft 365platform
  • Ability to apply resourcefulness when researching information,resolving issues, and identifying effective solutions
  • Ability to perform and prioritize multiple tasks seamlesslyensuring accurate and timely completion, while exhibiting strongattention to detail and organization
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of ateam in collaborative environments, engaging with faculty, staff,and external stakeholders
  • Ability to identify routine issues and elevate non-standardproblems using established procedures in a fast-paced workenvironment
  • Ability to review basic information and follow policies,procedures, and guidelines when completing assigned tasks
  • Ability to maintain a high level of diplomacy and tact, ensuringconfidentiality and discretion with sensitive and confidentialinformation

Work Environment

The work environment characteristics described here arerepresentative of those an employee encounters while performing theessential functions of this job. While performing the duties ofthis job, the employee occasionally works near moving mechanicalparts and is occasionally exposed to risk of electrical shock. Thenoise level in the work environment is usually quiet.
