Job description

Position Summary

As a Paragon Special Police Officer (SPO) you will observe and report activities and incidents while assigned to your work site. This includes providing for the security and safety of facilities, property, and personnel.

Additionally, primary responsibilities include precluding unauthorized access to facilities, responding to unusual or emergency situations, using appropriate escalation of force level up to and including armed response as dictated by the situation and protocol, making periodic tours to check for irregularities and inspecting protection devices and fire control equipment. Lastly, duties also include preserving order and acting to enforce regulations/directives for the site pertaining to personnel, visitors, and premises.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Minimum Required Standards, Education, Licenses, Certifications:

  • Authorized to work in the United States (U.S. citizens preferable).
  • At minimum, possess a High School Diploma or GED equivalent (see additional required “Specific Experience”).
  • Possess a valid Driver's License.
  • Successfully pass standard background checks, as per Licensing requirements.
  • Must submit to an extensive background check, including criminal history, personal references, employment and education verifications, and Department of Motor Vehicle and credit checks if applicable.
  • Successfully pass drug screening, as per Licensing requirements; may be subject to random drug testing.
  • Ideal candidates have at least three (3) years of armed guard experience and possess a valid Armed Special Police Officer license and be willing to transfer to Paragon Systems if offered the position.

Specific Experience Required:

Possess an Associate Degree in Criminal Justice (or 60 credit hours with 27 hours in core curriculum) from a fully accredited Institution and have been employed in the field of Criminal Justice during the past year and have the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities required for this position.
