Job summary

SCMCAA seeks a Class Aide with disability responsibilities to provide one-on-one support in a Head Start classroom. You will work with the teacher to create an inclusive educational environment and assist with daily activities and documentation for children with special needs.

You will ensure safety, communicate with parents, attend trainings, and support staff in delivering high-quality early education services. The role requires teamwork, adaptability, and strong observation skills.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Ability to relate to children and parents positively.
• Develop and implement classroom activities for individual needs.
• Work well with staff, parents, and managers.
• Knowledge of bus safety regulations and transportation guidelines.
• Understanding of child development and care guidance.

Responsibilities

• Provide one-on-one attention to a child with special needs or requiring assistance.
• Assist with daily activities in Head Start classroom.
• Support the teacher and aide in creating an educational environment.
• Assist with documentation for children with special needs.
• Maintain safe supervision and never leave a child unattended.
• Communicate with staff and parents and relay messages.
• Participate in Head Start training and meetings as required.
• Ensure emergency supplies and communication systems are operational.
• Uphold program policies and serve as mandated reporter where required.
• Perform additional duties as assigned by supervisors.
