Job summary

Saint Paul Public Schools is seeking Teaching Assistants to support students in the general education setting, including those with 504 Plans or IEPs. You will work under licensed staff, follow daily schedules, tutor in core subjects, and help prepare instructional materials and activities.

The role requires caring for students, maintaining records, and ensuring a warm, inclusive classroom environment with punctual attendance and reliable performance.

Qualifications

• Basic skills in reading, writing and mathematics.
• Basic skills in typing, copying and use of computers and iPads.
• Be racially conscious and support all students to achieve equitable outcomes.
• Ability to develop good relationships with students and staff.
• Ability to be sensitive to the needs of others.
• Ability to relate to students with warmth, friendliness and understanding.
• Must be on time to the job every day.

Responsibilities

• Work under the direction of a licensed teacher and/or other licensed instructional or nursing staff.
• Follow daily schedule and support all students in general education classrooms, including those with 504 Plans or IEPs.
• Tutor students in reading, language arts, spelling, mathematics, social studies, and other subjects.
• Assist with materials checkout/check-in and organize instructional resources.
• Set up and take down classroom equipment and prepare materials for staff.
• Assist with planning parties and special projects.
• Participate in physical education activities with students.
