Job summary

Saint Paul Public Schools is seeking a Teaching Assistant 2 (Special Education) to support students with disabilities within a general education setting. The position is 10 months, 35 hours per week, and pays $21.63–$28.48 per hour.

Training in NVCI, bus safety and CPR is noted, with opportunities to work on IEPs and related plans. Ideal candidates have an AA/AS/AAS or higher or two years of post-secondary coursework toward a bachelor's degree, plus ParaPro 460+ and HS diploma or GED.

Qualifications

• AA/AS/AAS or higher or two years of post-secondary coursework toward a bachelor's degree.
• Passing ParaPro with a 460+ and HS diploma or GED.
• Ability to lift 40+ pounds when required.
• Basic reading, writing, math; able to use computers and iPads.

Responsibilities

• Assist in implementing IEP, 504 Plans, BIP and sensory plans.
• Support inclusion of students with disabilities in general ed classrooms.
• Record data on IEP objectives and BIPs for monitoring.
• Assist with teaching functional skills (feeding, dressing, toileting).
• Assist teachers with students in communications systems therapy and discipline.
• Be mobile around classrooms and schools to meet student needs.
• Complete Third Party billing daily.
• Provide follow-up instruction on Positive Behavioral Interventions and de-escalation.
• Use NVCI techniques only to assure safety when needed.
• Assist in supporting students on field trips.
