Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Education or related field eligible for teacher certification or license in the state.
• 1+ years’ experience working with population of the facility preferred (Special Education or Alternative Education).
• Must be knowledgeable of developmental stages and behaviors for the age group of students.

Responsibilities

• Identify educational needs of students and develop formal educational plans or programs.
• Create lesson plans and teach students how to study or communicate with others.
• Observe students to evaluate abilities and work on weaknesses.
• Teach and mentor students individually or in groups.
• Communicate with family, counselors, administrators and other teachers on progress.
• Work with students to overcome learning challenges and prepare for state tests as required.

Education
