Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or higher from an accredited college or university.
• Valid Alabama teaching certificate in special education.
• Ability to meet suitability criteria under applicable Alabama laws.
• Proficiency in oral and written communication.
• Effective interpersonal and collaboration skills.
• Ability to develop and implement curriculum for assigned students.
• Ability to use technology to plan, instruct, and report.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrates support for the school system, goals, and priorities.
• Demonstrates knowledge of child development and characteristics of special education students.
• Assesses students’ needs for transition and related services.
• Participates in the development of students’ IEPs and implements them.
• Schedules and participates in IEP meetings.
• Uses instructional strategies aligned to individual needs and capabilities.
