Job summary

Prosper ISD seeks a dedicated Special Education teacher to support learning for students with special needs. You will develop and implement IEPs through ARD, collaborate with families and staff, and adapt curricula to meet student abilities while using diverse instructional strategies.

You will assess learning styles, maintain compliance with IEP goals, and participate in ARD meetings and staff development activities.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree from accredited university.
• Texas teaching certificate with SPED endorsements.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with students, parents, and staff to develop IEP through the ARD Committee process for each student assigned.
• Implement an instructional, therapeutic, or skill development program for assigned students and show written evidence of preparation as required.
• Conduct assessment of student learning styles and plan appropriate instructional strategies and materials.
• Present subject matter effectively and use varied instructional techniques and media including technology to meet individual needs.
• Work with classroom teachers to modify curricula and assist special education students in regular classes.
• Participate in ARD Committee meetings regularly.
• Select books, equipment, and instructional media for use in instruction.
• Conduct ongoing assessments of student achievement through formal and informal tests.
• Provide or supervise personal and medical care as stated in IEP.
• Sponsor extracurricular activities approved by campus principal.
• Consult district and outside resources regarding education, social, medical, and personal needs of students.
