Job Summary

The ideal candidate will be committed to providing high-quality education and support to students with diverse learning needs at the elementary and junior high school levels. As a special education teacher, you will play a pivotal role in creating inclusive and supportive learning environments, collaborating with colleagues, and individualizing instruction to meet each student's unique needs.

Qualifications / Minimum Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Special Education.
• Valid state teaching license/certification in Special Education (LBS1).
• Experience working with elementary and/or junior high school students with diverse learning needs, including but not limited to learning disabilities, emotional/behavioral disorders, autism spectrum disorders, and intellectual disabilities.
• Knowledge of special education laws, regulations, and best practices, including the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA).
• Strong interpersonal, communication, and collaboration skills.
• Patience, empathy, and a genuine commitment to working with students with special needs.
• Ability to adapt and problem-solve in a dynamic educational environment.

Building Principal/Assistant Principal and Special Education Coordinator

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) for students with special needs in collaboration with parents, administrators, and other professionals.
• Design and deliver differentiated instruction tailored to accommodate a range of learning styles, abilities, and needs.
• Utilize a variety of teaching strategies, resources, and technologies to engage students and facilitate their academic, social, and emotional growth.
• Assess student progress regularly through formal and informal measures and adjust instruction accordingly to ensure continuous improvement.
• Provide support and accommodations to promote access to the general education curriculum for students with disabilities while fostering independence and self-advocacy skills.
• Foster a positive and inclusive classroom environment where all students feel valued, respected, and supported.
• Collaborate with general education teachers, support staff, and other professionals to coordinate services and ensure seamless integration of special education supports.
• Communicate effectively with parents/guardians, colleagues, and stakeholders to provide updates on student progress, discuss concerns, and facilitate partnerships in support of student success.
• Participate in professional development opportunities to enhance knowledge and skills in special education best practices, instructional strategies, and relevant policies and regulations.
