Responsabilités

• Plan and develop a course of study aligned with each student’s Individualized Education Plan and district/state guidelines.
• Develop lesson plans including strategies to encourage student engagement.
• Implement co-teaching strategies to meet individual needs when appropriate.
• Assist regular education teachers with classroom accommodations.
• Assess student learning as prescribed by the IEP.
• Communicate student progress to parents on a regular basis.
• Collaborate with staff for IEP meetings planning.
• Administer standardized tests per protocol and state regulations.
• Maintain an environment conducive to learning and administer discipline per IEP and district policies.
• Maintain accurate records of student performance and communicate progress to parents/guardians.
• Conduct parent-teacher conferences as scheduled and as needed.
• Collaborate with professionals to meet social and emotional needs of students.
• Utilize Response to Intervention strategies to address learning needs.
• Participate in faculty meetings and professional development activities.

Formation

Bachelor’s Degree with Illinois certification to teach special education

Performance

Responsibilities

• Plan and develop a course of study that is aligned with each assigned special education student’s Individualized Education Plan and is consistent with curriculum guidelines of the school district and the state.
• Develop lesson plans in support of each special education student that include a variety of strategies to encourage student engagement.
• Implement co-teaching strategies to meet the individual needs of students when appropriate.
• Assist regular education teachers in making classroom accommodations to meet the learning needs of special education students.
• Assess student learning as prescribed in the student’s Individualized Education Plan.
• Communicate information related to student progress to parents on a regular basis.
• Collaborate with other staff members in the planning for Individualized Education Plan meetings.
• Administer standardized tests in accordance with accepted protocol and state regulations.
• Maintain an environment that is conducive to learning and administer discipline, if needed, that is consistent with student Individualized Education Plans and district policies.
• Maintain accurate records of student performance and communicate student progress to parents/guardians as required by the school or whenever such communication is needed.
• Conduct parent-teacher conferences during regularly scheduled times and at other times when necessary.
• Collaborate with other professionals to meet the social and emotional needs of students.
• Utilize the Response to Intervention strategies developed by the district to address the unique learning needs of students.
• Participate in faculty meetings, committee meetings, educational conferences, and other professional development activities to ensure best practices are utilized in the classroom.
