Job summary

Rochester Public Schools is hiring a Special Education Educational Support Personnel (ESP) paraeducator to support students at the school site with special education services under certified staff guidance.

Responsibilities include implementing IEP elements, instructional and behavioral support, data collection, and collaboration with teachers. Must meet education requirements and have strong communication and teamwork.

Qualifications

• 60 college credits or a two-year degree is required or may be substituted by the Paraeducator Assessments.
• High School diploma or GED required.
• Experience with elementary age students is preferred.
• Flexible and able to work as part of a cooperative team.
• Regular, on-time attendance is required.

Responsibilities

• Follow student Behavior Intervention Plans and Emergency Healthcare Plans.
• Provide support to students with personal cares as needed.
• Observe and document students' academic and social behaviors.
• Data collection of student progress on goals and objectives.
• Provide feedback on student progress to teachers and related staff.
• Support students with de-escalation techniques; training provided as needed.
• Supervise students in and around the school building before, during, and after school hours.
• Move with students to meet them at their level and assist during mealtimes, recess, and field trips.
