Job summary

Rochester Public Schools is seeking a Special Education ESP paraprofessional to support students at the school site, assist with instructional activities, implement IEP goals, and collect data on progress under supervision.

Responsibilities include behavior support, personal cares, data recording, and communicating progress to teachers. The role requires strong dependability, confidentiality, and the ability to work with diverse learners.

Qualifications

• Minimum requirement: 60 college credits and/or a two-year degree from an accredited college or university. Include official transcript with application.
• In lieu of college credits or degree, the Paraeducator Assessments may be used.
• High School diploma or GED required.
• Experience working with elementary age students preferred.
• Computer skills preferred.
• Regular, on-time attendance is required.

Responsibilities

• Follow student Behavior Intervention Plans and Emergency Healthcare Plans.
• Provide support to students with personal cares as needed.
• Work with a wide variety of students with different disabilities.
• Observe and document students' academic and social behaviors.
• Collect accurate data on goals and objectives.
• Provide feedback on student progress to teachers and related staff.
• Support students with de-escalation techniques; training provided as needed.
• Supervise students in various settings before, during, and after school.
• Move with students to meet them at their level and assist during meals, recess, and field trips.
