Job summary

Rochester Public Schools is seeking a Special Education ESP paraeducator to provide instructional and behavioral support at the school site under the direction of certified staff. You will assist with implementing IEP-related activities, data collection, and communication of progress to teachers.

The role requires reliability, confidentiality, and teamwork, with a 6.25-hour day and 180 duty days per year. Prior experience with diverse learners is helpful.

Qualifications

• Follow student Behavior Intervention Plans and Emergency Healthcare Plans.
• Provide support to students with personal cares as needed.
• Ability to work with a wide variety of students with different disabilities.
• Observe and document students' academic and social behaviors.
• Consistent and accurate data collection of student progress on goals and objectives.
• Provide feedback on student progress to classroom teachers and related services staff.
• Knowledge using iPads and other devices used for communication of non-verbal students.
• Support students with de-escalation techniques and use restrictive procedures as needed.
• Supervise students in various settings and locations in and around the school building.
• Model appropriate language and social behavior.
• Maintain confidentiality and good organizational skills.
• Regular, on-time attendance is required.
