Job summary

Roosevelt High School, part of the Sioux Falls School District, seeks an Education Assistant to support students with disabilities and daily living needs. The role involves one-on-one and small-group support, instructional prep, and behavior guidance throughout the school day.

The position requires at least two years of post-high-school education or a state-approved exam; prior experience with disabilities or behavior management is valued.

Qualifications

• Two years of post high school education or higher, or pass a state-approved test for designated Education Assistant positions.

Responsibilities

• Assists students in accessing transportation.
• Provides personal care to students with special daily living needs (toileting, feeding, physical management).
• Reviews and practices skills taught by a teacher 1:1 or in small groups in special education or regular classrooms.
• Works with students in schools and community sites.
• Prepares instructional materials as directed by the teacher.
• Reinforces instructional/behavioral objectives with students as directed by the teacher/therapist.
• Maintains student records (charting, assignments, attendance, progress notes).
• Monitors identified students in lunchroom and on playground.
• Maintains confidentiality of students and their families.
• Assists with management of student behavior.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
