Job summary

Sioux Falls School District’s Ben Reifel Middle School in Sioux Falls, SD, is hiring a part-time RISE Special Education Support Professional (0.5 FTE) to assist students with disabilities, provide personal care, and support instructional goals.

Two years post-high school education or a state-approved test is required; experience with disabilities or behavior management is preferred. Hours are 12:00pm–4:00pm, Monday–Friday, for 20 hours per week over 9 months.

Qualifications

• Two years of post high school education or higher, or be able to pass a standardized test approved by the state of South Dakota, for designated Education Assistant positions.
• Experience working with individuals with disabilities or experience with behavior management.

Responsibilities

• Assists students in accessing transportation.
• Provides personal care to students with special daily living needs (e.g., toileting, feeding, physical management).
• Provides review and practice of skills taught by teacher with students 1:1 and in small groups.
• Works with students in schools and in community sites.
• Prepares instructional materials as directed/selected by teacher.
• Reinforces instructional/behavioral objectives with children as directed by the teacher/therapist.
• Maintains student records and data for progress notes.
• Monitors identified students in lunchroom/on playground.
