Job summary

Washington High School, a part of the Sioux Falls School District, seeks an Education Assistant to support students with disabilities within a Circle of Courage framework. This 0.875 FTE role runs 9 months, Monday–Friday, 7:45 am–3:15 pm, with a 30-minute unpaid lunch.

Major duties include 1:1 and small-group instruction, assisting with transportation access, personal care as needed, and maintaining student records, all while upholding safety and confidentiality.

Qualifications

• Two years post high school education or higher, or pass a SD state-approved test.
• Experience working with individuals with disabilities or experience with behavior management.
• Must pass pre-employment physical.

Responsibilities

• Assists students in accessing transportation.
• Provides personal care to students with special daily living needs.
• Provides review and practice of skills taught by a teacher in 1:1 and small groups.
• Works with students in schools and community sites.
• Maintains student records and progress notes.
• Monitors identified students in lunchroom and on playground.
