Job summary

Sioux Falls School District seeks an Education Assistant at Marcella LeBeau Elementary School to support students with disabilities and manage daily activities in classrooms and community sites.

Requires two years of post high school education or ability to pass SD state test; experience with disabilities or behavior management is desired. Physical duties include assisting with mobility and daily care; safety competencies are required.

Qualifications

• Two years post high school education or higher, or pass SD state test for designated Education Assistant positions.

Responsibilities

• Assists students in accessing transportation.
• Provides personal care to students with special daily living needs in accordance with safety competencies.
• Provides review and practice of skills taught by a teacher 1:1 or in small groups in SPED or regular classrooms.
• Works with students in schools and in community sites.
• Prepares instructional materials as directed by teacher.
• Reinforces instructional/behavioral objectives with children as directed by the teacher/therapist.
• Maintains student records (charting, assignments, attendance, progress notes).
• Monitors identified student(s) in lunchroom/on playground.
• Maintains confidentiality of students and families.
• Assists with management of student behavior.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
