Job summary

Waukee Middle School in Waukee, Iowa seeks a Special Education Associate to support individual students and small groups under the supervision of licensed teachers. Duties include implementing behavior plans, reinforcing learning, preparing materials, supervising during drills and field trips, and assisting with lunch and routines.

Qualifications

• High School diploma, preferred.
• Experience as an associate, preferred.

Responsibilities

• Work with individual students or small groups to reinforce learning.
• Assist the teacher in devising strategies for reinforcing material based on students’ needs.
• Support PBIS for all students in all settings.
• Operate and care for equipment used in the classroom for instructional purposes.
• Distribute and collect workbooks and materials.
• Implement a behavior support plan.
• Guide independent work and remedial work set up by the teacher.
• Assist with supervision during drills, assemblies, play periods and field trips.
• Read to students and participate in oral reading activities.
• Assist with lunch, snack, and cleanup routines.
