Job summary

Waukee Elementary is seeking a Special Education Associate to support multiple students under the direction of the classroom teacher. The role focuses on reinforcing learning, implementing behavior plans, and assisting with small group instruction.

Starting date is immediate; hours are 7 hours 10 minutes per day (including a 30-minute unpaid lunch). The district offers IPERS and health/dental coverage for the employee along with a generous leave package.

Qualifications

• Position Criteria: High School diploma, preferred
• Experience as an associate, preferred
• Demonstrates ability to work with students and support instructional goals

Responsibilities

• Work with individual students or small groups to reinforce learning.
• Assist teacher in devising strategies based on individual students’ needs.
• Support generalization of skills in an integrated setting.
• Demonstrate effective communication and collaboration in a team.
• Assist with PBIS for all students in all settings.
• Assist with lunch, snack, and cleanup routines.
• Maintain confidentiality of student information.
