Job summary

Chesterfield County Public Schools seeks an Instructional Assistant to support special education teachers in general and special education settings. You will help with instructional activities, record progress, and assist with materials and testing accommodations.

Responsibilities include supervising students on/off the bus, during lunch and recess as directed by IEPs, and providing clerical support. Training in autism-specific needs may be required.

Qualifications

• Basic knowledge of child development and behavior management.
• Ability to perform clerical tasks and maintain records.
• Able to communicate effectively in writing and orally.

Responsibilities

• Assist special education teachers with classroom duties such as recording grades and preparing instructional materials.
• Support students during instructional activities, one-on-one or in groups, and document progress.
• Supervise students getting on/off the bus and during lunch and recess as indicated in IEP.
• Serve as an aide on buses when required by IEP.
• Implement accommodations in a child’s IEP under teacher guidance.
• Provide clerical assistance and ordering of supplies.
