Job summary

Chesterfield County Public Schools is seeking an Instructional Assistant for the 2026-2027 school year. Under the direction of a special education teacher, you will support students with IEPs in general and special education locations, assist with instructional activities, record grades, and help prepare instructional materials and testing accommodations.

Knowledge of childhood growth and development.
Experience with behavior management techniques.
Familiarity with clerical procedures and general academic subjects.

Responsibilities

Assists special education teachers with classroom duties, including recording grades and preparing instructional materials.
Supports students during instructional activities (one-on-one, small groups, whole group) as directed by the teacher.
Documents student progress as directed by the teacher.
Supervises students on the school bus and during lunch/recess as indicated in IEPs.
Assists with implementing accommodations in a child’s IEP and with related services.
Performs clerical tasks—typing, filing, maintaining records, ordering supplies.
