Job summary

IDEA Public Schools is seeking a Special Education Co-Teacher to support students with significant cognitive and/or pervasive developmental disabilities. The role focuses on functional curricula, daily living and vocational skills, with small class ratios to enable individualized attention in K‑12 settings.

Ideal candidates have at least 48 college hours and a willingness to pursue Special Education certification.

Qualifications

• Education: At least 48 college hours required, bachelor’s degree preferred.
• Experience: Experience working with cognitive/developmental disabilities strongly preferred.
• Licenses or Certifications: Willingness to pursue Special Education certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist in the educational and social development of students under guidance of facilitators and teachers.
• Assist in implementing Individual Education Plans and monitor progress.
• Provide support for individual students inside and outside of the classroom to enable participation.
• Work with speech therapists, social workers, OT/PT.
• Maintain student records and assist with behavior support.
