Job summary

International Leadership of Texas is seeking certified teachers to deliver instruction in core subjects with expertise in Special Education. Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university
  • Valid Texas Special Education Certification, required
  • Valid Texas teaching certificate with Core Content endorsements, preferred
  • Demonstrated competency in the core academic subject area assigned
  • Knowledge of specialized curriculum and instruction
  • Knowledge of ARD Committee process and IEP goal-setting process and implementation
  • Ability to instruct students and manage moderate to severe behavior
  • Knowledge of learning characteristics of students with autism, intellectual disabilities, and emotional disabilities
  • Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
  • One-year student teaching or approved internship preferred

Responsibilities

  • Prepares for classes assigned with written plans as evidence of preparation
  • Ensure that all learners have access to grade-level curriculum
  • Plan and use instructional strategies and materials reflecting learning styles and needs
  • Assess student learning styles and use results to plan interventions
  • Prepare ARD/IEP documents and participate in ARD meetings; distribute documents per district guidelines
  • Modify curricula with general education teachers for special education students
  • Determine instructional goals and methods with staff
  • Provide and supervise inclusion supports as required by IEP
  • Assist special education students in regular classes and oversee aides
  • Manage classroom environment conducive to learning
  • Conduct ongoing assessments of student achievement
  • Maintain documentation of instruction and learner progress
  • Be a positive role model and support the district’s mission
  • Create a classroom environment and manage behavior per policy
  • Maintain reports, records and necessary documents
  • Establish professional relationships with parents, students, colleagues
  • Participate in staff development and comply with district policies
  • Attend faculty meetings and serve on committees
  • Any other duties as assigned
  • Direct the work of assigned instructional aide(s)
