Job summary

Belton ISD seeks a Special Programs Coordinator to oversee district-wide special education, 504, and dyslexia services. The role reports to the Executive Director of Special Programs and involves ensuring compliant policies and timely procedures.

The coordinator will lead professional development, manage department resources, and collaborate with principals to support student needs while maintaining confidentiality and district standards.

Qualifications

• Education/Certification: Texas Teacher Certification (Preferred)
• Master’s degree (Preferred)
• Principal Certification (Preferred)

Responsibilities

• Oversee special education and 504 programs district-wide.
• Coordinate evaluation, placement, and reevaluation procedures.
• Assist with Child Find procedures for identification of disabilities.
• Plan and present professional development for staff.
• Assist with selecting and ordering materials for the department.
• Coordinate use of special programs equipment and materials.
• Serve as ARD committee member or chair as needed.
• Assist teachers with strategies and materials to improve achievement.
• Coordinate student movement to more restrictive environments when needed.
• Assist in evaluating special education, 504 and dyslexia programs.
• Participate in staffing meetings to address student needs.
• Adhere to laws/timelines for special education and 504.
• Support district behavior management policies.
• Ensure staff training on behavior interventions and restraint.
• Assist with staff evaluations in the department.
• Assist in interviewing prospective staff.
• Plan, assign, and direct work; address complaints.
• Supervise paperwork to meet requirements; address issues.
• Contribute to budget and staffing discussions.
• Maintain open communication with staff and stakeholders.
• Mediate conflicts between students, parents, and staff.
• Perform other duties as assigned; maintain confidentiality.
• Attend professional development for ongoing compliance.
