Job summary

North Kansas City Schools is seeking a Paraprofessional Tier 3 – Special Education to support teachers and students in a well-organized classroom. You will assist with instructional activities, supervision, and implementing strategies under the guidance of the Special Education Classroom Teacher.

The role requires meeting state qualification standards, CPR/First Aid readiness, and the ability to handle health needs and crisis situations.

Qualifications

• A minimum of thirty-six college hours from an accredited college or university is required, pass the Paraprofessional test in the State of Missouri or Missouri 20-hour Online Substitute Training Program, sixty college hours is preferred.
• A valid Missouri Teaching Certificate is preferred.
• Possession of the knowledge, skills, abilities, and physical attributes necessary to perform the essential functions of the position.
• Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate or acceptable.

Responsibilities

• Becomes CPR certified and First Aid Training.
• Trains in Medication Administration including administration of EPI PEN.
• Assists Students with toileting and diapering.
• Assists Students with transferring and/or lifting of Student(s).
• Maintains up-to-date data on student goals and progress.
• Distributes and collects workbooks, papers, and other materials for instruction.
• Guides independent study and reinforces material as directed by the teacher.
